Broccoli

Yes that is broccoli she is eating! Alli has gone through phases in her dietary preferences. Currently she like veggies. Tomorrow may be a different story. The broccoli could be on the floor.

It is like we live in a new house

After months of hem-hawing whether or not to tear out the perma-dingy carpet in our living room, we finally just did got rid of it. The final straw was the grime covering Alli's bottom from scooting around on the carpet that had become the same color as Boone's (because he is the reason it was that color!) We knew there was wood flooring (probably original to the house), but really didn't know what kind of shape it was in. It isn't perfect, but livable for now. We'll probably hire someone to come refinish it, unless we get some wild hair to take it on ourselves. Anyway, it has given the house a new feel.

This picture shows the carpet in its perma-dinge shade, but really doesn't do it justice. Alli and Boone have started to become buddies. Up until now, he has just ignored her. Now he is beginning to realize that she is a food source when she is sitting in her high chair and that she pets him more that either Dan or I do. Did anyone know that the red corrector on Photoshop won't fix the dog's glowing eyes?

South for the weekend

A couple of weeks ago we headed south for the weekend to "get the heck out of Dodge." Jeremy and Amy were kind enough to take us in. They have a beautiful home. It was like staying in a 5 star hotel compared to the little shoebox we live in. It was such a treat to be able to walk around 3 sides of the bed because the guest room is that big. And when the kids when to bed, we didn't have to be completely silent for fear of waking them. They were all the way upstairs!!

Despite it being a brief trip, it was a nice break from our usual weekend routine of trying to catch up on laundry. The weather was fabulous on Sunday as we leisurely shopped and had lunch. Jeremy and Dan ventured to the hood to get us gals some of the best BBQ around. They made it back with all their hubcaps and some good eats!

BTW, Jeremy and Amy, guess what gadget Dan bought this week? I've proposed we name her "Maggie" (short for Magellan). Figured it would be pretty handy while he is travelling to foreign cities. "Foreign cities"... sounds so glamorous. I'm talking foreign to us...Detroit, Pittsburgh.

Peek a boo!

When I look at pictures of Alli, what always catches my attention is how much more hair she has gotten as she has grown. Between getting hair and teeth, she is looking more kid-like and less baby-like everyday. I'm happy, yet sad about that.

Just can't get enough

One of my friends recently sent me some pictures of Alli. I think she was about 3 months old when this one was taken. She looks so little in this pic! It is hard to believe this was her just a few months ago! I'm hanging out in the background holding a newborn.

Finally! A new post!

Just the girls in their ball caps!! We were just headed out for a walk on this rainy spring day. Boone wasn't too photogenic for this shot. He was much too focused on getting on with the walk.

One day I picked up Alli from daycare and she had put a little barette in her hair. It was so cute! I'm embarressed that I didn't think of it first. Oh well, now we have more hair clips and barettes than any one girl should have. Even Daddy has figured out how they work and always fixes her hair before we leave the house.

Alli is trying watermelon for the first time. She loved it. I'm sure we'll be eating a lot of that now. So far, Alli has been pretty cooperative when it comes to eating and trying new foods. I know the stage of "mac & cheese only" is coming. In the meanwhile, I will continue to believe that she is learning healthy eating habits.

OK I feel like there are way too many pics of Alli and her Mom and not near enough of Alli and her Dad. In the future, I will try to be the one behind the camera more so we take care of that problem.

Update on the sleeping. We are back to what works well for us and we are all sleeping soundly. My inner critic will probably get fired up again soon and we will start all over again. Maybe when we wean. Maybe never. For now...sweet dreams.
