Too tired for safety

This past weekend I toted Alli all over downtown in the blazing sun and sweltering humidity to watch a world-class triathlon. She was so patient. Never screaming or wiggling too much. She just enjoyed being carried around in the backpack and people watching. So when she finally fell asleep late in the day,I couldn't bear to wake her (especially since she hadn't napped ALL day)!

When the whole event was over, I was generously offered a ride to my car, which was parked about a mile away, by my co-worker and her husband. Not looking forward to lugging 25# around any further than I had to, I graciously accepted their offer. Upon arriving to their vehicle, I was forced to decide: wake her and hold her illegally in my lap for the short ride to my car or leave her sound asleep in her strapped in her pack (with the 5 point-harness), place her in the backseat and put a seatbelt around the whole backpack(still quite illegal). Hummmmm.

My choice is clear in the picture (which is the whole reason for this boring story...isn't it a funny picture?). We obviously arrived safely. I will probably get hate mail or a stern talking-to for not strapping her into CSPC approved car seat. Oh well.

Preference for dog food?

OK now that you have all witnessed Alli's scooting, imagine her pushing something around in front of her with her feet!! And not just something, but Boone's dog food dish! I caught her half way across the living room pushing the bowl full of dog food around. She wasn't even using her hands to move it, just her feet. I wish I would of had the camera handy!

She is obsessed with this food dish!! Whether it is full of dog food or not, she is drawn to it like a magnet. She likes to put her toys in it, turn it over and push it around. And she really likes to do those things if there is food in it. Yes, I have fished a few kernels of food out of her mouth. She has probably gotten a few chewed up and swallowed as well. Great! Why do I even bother with whole or organic foods?

The girl gets around

Well this is how Alli gets around. She probably could crawl if she wanted to, but why bother if she can do this. Yes,yes we know some dogs do this same thing when something is wrong with their butt. Rest assured, there is nothing wrong with Alli's butt.

Kentucky

Dan has moved on to the next phase of his training. He is doing his clinical rotations. First stop: Louisville, KY. He will be here for a month. Alli and I visited him last weekend. We had a nice time. We went to a Louisville Bats (the cave dwelling creature) baseball game. They are the Triple A team for the Cinncinati Reds. It was fun and you can see Alli got to met Buddy the Bat mascot.

New Daily Adventures

Now that she had finally figured out how to pull herself up, there's no stopping her.

To go along with her new adventurous spirit, her hair is looking pretty adventurous these days too. She won't leave a barrette in it, so we're going for the all-natural look with her partial curls.

She was way too interested in my chopsticks not to give it a try!
